Blues Alley

Founded in 1965 by musician Tommy Gwaltney, Blues Alley is the oldest continuously operating jazz supper club in the United States - often called 'the house that Dizzy built.' Tucked inside an 18th-century red-brick carriage house on a narrow cobblestone alley off Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown, the intimate 125-seat room creates an unparalleled listening experience.

Over six decades the stage has hosted Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny, McCoy Tyner, Wynton Marsalis, Eva Cassidy, and hundreds more. A non-profit sister organization, the Blues Alley Jazz Society, runs youth education and summer camp programs.
