Black Cat

The Black Cat is one of DC's most iconic and beloved independent music venues, open since September 11, 1993. Founded by former Gray Matter drummer Dante Ferrando along with investors including Dave Grohl, the club quickly became synonymous with independent music in the District. The Mainstage on the second floor is a 7,000 sq-ft standing-room space.

Black Cat has hosted Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Bikini Kill, Fugazi, Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers, The Strokes, Elliott Smith, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, and hundreds of others. Metro-accessible (U Street/Cardozo station).
